In a notice to students and faculty, the university said classes would be “held as scheduled, when possible.”

While the rest of the region continues to dig out after last night’s snowstorm, Harvard University keeps marching on — announcing that the campus will stay open and classes will be held.
In a notice to faculty, staff, and students on Sunday, the university said classes would continue to be “held as scheduled, when possible.”
The announcement applied to Harvard College and the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. The school asked faculty who are unable to get to campus due to safety concerns on Monday to teach remotely.
Students told The Crimson they believe Harvard made the wrong call. Several said the storm canceled their flights back to campus for the start of the semester, and others argued the conditions weren’t safe for students with disabilities to get around.
One student put it: “I think it’s the wrong call,” adding that the first day of classes is “more or less just syllabus.”
Several Harvard graduate schools differed with their approach, announcing that professors will hold classes virtually for all today.
Harvard was one of the few universities in the region to remain open on Monday. Boston University, Tufts, and MIT all said they would close down campus and cancel classes.
Northeastern University also announced it would hold classes remotely.
