“As we always say since Day 1 in our household growing up, take no [expletive].”

Drake Maye is getting some brotherly love ahead of Super Bowl LX.
In a video done by the Players’ Tribune, Maye’s three older brothers — Luke, Cole, and Beau — each gave the Patriots’ quarterback a special message ahead of Sunday’s title tilt with the Seahawks.
“You’re going to play lights out, just like you always have in big games,” Luke Maye said.
The 100-second-long video featured a bunch of pictures and videos of Maye when he was a kid. In one of the clips, Maye was pushing back one of his brothers as he agitated him.
“As we always say since Day 1 in our household growing up, take no [expletive],” one of Maye’s brothers said.
Cole Maye credited his youngest brother for the work he’s put in over the years to help allow himself the opportunity to play in a Super Bowl.
“This wasn’t luck and this was never promised, but here you are. After many hours grinding on your craft,” Cole said.
Beau Maye, meanwhile, seemed to be in awe of what his little brother has accomplished.
“All those times we talked about growing up, you’re living that dream and that’s so special,” Beau Maye said. “Take your time and just really enjoy this moment. Didn’t come this far just to come this far. Big-time players make big-time plays. It’s really as simple as that.”
While Maye is the youngest in his family, he isn’t the first in the family to have some athletic success. His father, Mark, was also a standout quarterback at North Carolina. Luke and Beau played for UNC’s men’s basketball team. In fact, Luke Maye hit a game-winning shot in the final seconds of the Elite Eight in 2017 en route to the Tar Heels winning the national championship. Finally, Cole Maye was a part of the Florida baseball team that won the College World Series in 2017.
With all of that athletic success, there is a mantra the Maye family lives by, which they reiterated at the end of their message to Drake.
“Maye Way, baby. It’s what we live by. Be the leader, take control, and show no mercy,” Luke said.
Maye has spoken pretty highly of his brothers in the past and how they’ve been vital to him in his growth.
“I was always the little brother. Kind of always the runt of the family, and I still am,” Maye recently told ESPN’s Jeff Darlington. “I’ve got my brothers who are 6-foot-7, 6-8, 6-9.
“They keep me humble.”
One of the ways the elder three Maye siblings kept the youngest Maye sibling humble came right after the Patriots selected Drake Maye with the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. In a video that went viral, each of Maye’s brothers jokingly trash-talked him.
Drake Maye got a kick out of that video, laughing and asking if they were serious. This time around, though, his brothers were a bit more serious as Maye is set to play in the biggest game of his life.
