Wendel Seney, of Roslindale, is charged with domestic assault and other charges related to allegedly choking his former girlfriend.

A State Police trooper has been suspended without pay as he faces domestic assault charges for allegedly choking his former girlfriend multiple times during their relationship.
Wendel Seney, 32, is charged with strangulation or suffocation, two counts of assault and battery on a family or household member, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and a firearm possession felony, court records show.
Earlier this month, Seney’s law enforcement certification was suspended by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training, or POST, Commission. He was ordered to surrender his Massachusetts State Police credentials and equipment, according to the Jan. 14 suspension order.
In a statement, a spokesperson for State Police confirmed that Seney was relieved of duty and suspended without pay.
“The Massachusetts State Police stands firmly against all forms of domestic violence. The Department is aware of these serious charges and is fully cooperating with the District Attorney’s investigation,” the spokesperson said. “We will follow the court proceedings as part of our ongoing internal affairs investigation and await the outcome of that process.”
Wendel pleaded not guilty in November and released on his personal recognizance.
What are the allegations?
The 32-year-old woman reported the allegations against Seney to State Police in October, and the allegations were referred to Walpole police. She said that, during multiple incidents over their less-than-a-year relationship, Seney allegedly pulled her hair and choked her.
Previously, he had also pulled her hair and pinched her at a Celtics game at TD Garden, she alleged. Police noted that “alcohol seemed to play a role in some of the incidents.”
The woman also described an incident to Walpole police where he drove away while she was holding on to the vehicle, saying “I don’t give a f— about you [b—]. I hope you die.” He drove 300 to 500 feet before she let go and “scraped her backside,” according to court records.
She reported multiple assaults last summer. She told police that he said “‘When I’m talking to you, you answer me. Are you dumb?’ while pulling her hair from behind her in June. When she told him to stop because it hurt, he stopped, indicated that he could do whatever he wanted, and pulled her hair again,” the report alleged.
A month later, Seney allegedly choked her twice: first, during an argument over what she wore to a party and for talking to other men, and again when he suspected an ex-boyfriend had texted her, according to court documents.
“During this verbal argument, he “choked” the victim. She described being choked as him wrapping his hand around her throat to the point where she had difficulty breathing and could not speak. She tapped on his arm or arms to signal him to stop and he ultimately released her,” the report said. “After that had taken place, he told her, ‘It took me a lot to not actually hurt you.’”
The pair broke up a few months later, she told police. After the woman reported the incident, police spoke to witnesses, including a neighbor and a babysitter, who allegedly witnessed the assaults.
Seney’s lawyer did not return a request for comment Monday night.
