Boston Bruins
“I haven’t had any opportunities for the Olympics for me in my career so far.”

The Bruins will have an eighth player going to Milan-Cortina for the 2026 Winter Olympics next month.
Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm was named to Team Sweden’s Olympic roster on Tuesday as an injury replacement alongside Minnesota’s Marcus Johansson. Lindholm will replace defenseman Jonas Brodin, while Johansson will take the spot of Leo Carlsson.
Lindholm will join current Bruins teammate Elias Lindholm on Team Sweden.
Charlie McAvoy and Jeremy Swayman will represent Team USA, while David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha will skate for Czechia. Henri Jokiharju will play for Finland, while Bruins prospect Dans Locmelis figures to be a key player for Latvia.
“It’s such a cool jersey, it has so much history tied to it,” Lindholm said of donning the Three Crowns in Italy. “I haven’t had any opportunities for the Olympics for me in my career so far, so it’s going to be a great honor to go there.”
Lindholm, 32, celebrated his appointment to the Olympic roster on Tuesday by scoring his fourth goal of the season in Boston’s 3-2 overtime win over the Predators at TD Garden.
While Lindholm didn’t make the initial cut for Sweden’s roster, he said that he wasn’t fretting over roster moves — even as the possibility presented himself that he could get a late call to Milan.
“It’s kind of out of your control, right? It’s you just have to go out and prove them wrong,” Lindholm said. “Now, a spot opened up. And like I said, I felt that I’d serve a spot there, and now one opened up. So it’s just the way it works in hockey, sometimes.
“You can’t really — you have to have a short memory. My first and foremost focus, obviously, is to play my best hockey for the Bruins and try to make the playoffs and have a fun season with the guys here, and then the rest will take care of itself.”
Like many of his Bruins teammates, this will be Lindholm’s first Olympics experience. He last represented Sweden during a gold-medal run at the 2018 World Championships.
“It’s a great honor. I know he was a little bummed there when he didn’t get the call at first,” Bruins coach Marco Sturm said. “But, he also knew anything can happen and it did happen with injuries. We’re all very excited that he made the team.”
