Weather
We have now transitioned from mid-winter to late winter. This is the time when the days often result in more melting of snow and ice with a refreezing at night.

The long holiday weekend has been quite nice across New England, with temperatures reaching above freezing. Tuesday features plenty of sunshine with temperatures in the mid-30s to near 40. Wind will be negligible for any activities taking place during school break. If you’re sledding, cross-country skiing, or even going downhill, you can expect little to no wind.

Keep in mind, we have now transitioned from mid-winter to late winter. This is the time when the days often result in more melting of snow and ice with a refreezing at night. Although not widespread, the sides of the roads where the snow melts during the day can have some ice in the mornings. It’s the same thing on your walkway: If snow has piled up to the sides, water will run down during the day and then refreeze at night.
Wednesday: Our next storm system approaches
A fast-moving weather system will cross the region on Wednesday evening and into the night. It actually looks like temperatures will be too warm for much in the way of snow, so we’re going to start this one as rain. As cold air arrives toward morning, some of that rain may transition to snow, but little to no accumulation is expected.

It’s a return to a blend of clouds and sunshine on Thursday, with temperatures once again in the mid-30s to near 40 degrees.
The second weather system of the week will arrive sometime Friday afternoon or Friday night. Here again, the precipitation type is in question, with a blend of rain and snow likely. This system probably has a little more juice than the Wednesday one, so amounts of either rain or snow could be a little bit higher.
