The College of the Holy Cross honored all-time great Bob Cousy by naming its home court in his honor Saturday in Worcester.

The floor inside the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex is now officially Bob Cousy ’50 Court – a nod to the 1947 NCAA national champion who went on to win six titles with the Celtics.

Cousy, 97, attended the ceremony and saluted the crowd at mid-court before the men’s basketball team outlasted Lehigh, 76-67.

They even distributed purple “Cousys” for fans to store their drinks.

Bill Simmons (founder and CEO of The Ringer, and a Holy Cross alumnus) was in the house to commemorate the occasion. Former Massachusetts governor and current NCAA president Charlie Baker attended the event as well.

Holy Cross players sported his name on the back of their pregame warmups.
