Everett man sentenced on child porn charges

An Everett man was sentenced Wednesday in federal court in Boston to 15 years in prison for possessing, distributing, and receiving child sexual abuse material, the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney’s Office said. 

Robert Sokolowski, 52, was also sentenced to five years of supervised release following his prison term, according to a statement from the office.  

Sokolowski committed the offenses seven months after being released from prison, where he had been serving time on a similar charge, officials said.

In September 2025, he pleaded guilty to one count each of possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, and receipt of child pornography. The case began in September 2024 when Sokolowski lost his cellphone on an MBTA Green Line trolley. An employee who attempted to identify the phone’s owner discovered images of child sexual abuse material on the device, prosecutors said. 

“The phone was found to contain hundreds of images and videos depicting … children as young as toddlers,” the U.S. attorney’s Office said. 

The conviction marks Sokolowski’s third federal child pornography case, according to the office. In 2005, he was sentenced to 46 months in prison after being convicted of possession of child sexual abuse material. 

Ten years later, Sokolowski was sentenced to 150 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release for possessing child pornography, authorities said.
