Neighbors Chris Buchanan and Adam Questad combined their love of coffee and the Patriots into a playoff-inspired release.

With the Patriots riding a resurgence under first-year head coach Mike Vrabel and quarterback Drake Maye leading them into Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Denver Broncos, two lifelong fans from Marblehead found an unexpected way to package their excitement: coffee.

Chris Buchanan and Adam Questad, next-door neighbors and Patriots diehards, are the founders of Bond Coffee Roasters, a small-batch roasting company they launched last fall. To celebrate the team’s playoff run, the duo created “Wake with Drake,” a limited-run coffee blend that nods to Maye and the renewed buzz around the next era of the Patriots. They were inspired by the team’s success under Vrabel and Maye’s leadership, and wanted to bring that excitement to their coffee.
“[It’s] a throwback to how good it feels to have that camaraderie — that strength of the Boston sports world — and put it in the Bond brand,” Buchanan told Boston.com.
Buchanan and Questad didn’t intend to start a roasting company. After becoming friends, talking about hobbies revealed a shared love for coffee — “anything from the science behind it and the roasting, down to the culture and the connection,” Buchanan said. About a year ago, they started seriously exploring turning their passion into a business.
In September 2025, Bond Coffee Roasters officially launched.
Their operation is small-scale, they emphasized; it currently consists of a tabletop “bullet” roaster in Questad’s home office, though the founders hope to eventually move into a larger space.
The “Wake with Drake” blend combines beans from Ethiopia and El Salvador, which gives it full body and a chocolate flavor with a hint of fruitiness. Questad said it’s been “a big hit” so far, designed to appeal to the Dunkin’ crowd while elevating the flavor profile.
“Our positioning isn’t that super premium, snobby coffee brand, it’s more trying to elevate that Dunks grab, to show people that there are other taste profiles out there,” Buchanan said.
The packaging features a football player wearing a No. 10 Patriots jersey — a visual nod to Maye and a “throwback to the vintage jerseys,” Questad said — a detail that’s been well-received by customers.
The “Wake with Drake” blend ($16 for a 12 oz bag) is available for a limited-run through the Bond Coffee Roasters website. The roasting company delivers locally in Marblehead and ships nationwide.
