Both drivers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to survive.
A dump truck crashed through a guardrail and plunged off a Boston overpass Friday morning after colliding with a car, officials said.
The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. Friday, near 48 Cambridge St. in Brighton, near the entrance to the Massachusetts Turnpike.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to survive, authorities said.
Images shared by NBC Boston show a dark-colored Volkswagen sedan resting on the overpass sidewalk, while the dump truck landed on the pavement below. Both vehicles sustained significant damage. A section of the metal guardrail was torn away, and debris was scattered across the road.
According to WBZ, the dump truck landed upright in an empty Department of Public Works lot. No other injuries were reported.
Cambridge Street was closed for several hours as officials investigated the crash and cleared debris.
Investigators have not released details about what caused the collision.
