The Chargers have fired offensive coordinator Greg Roman and offensive line coach Mike Devlin, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.
The moves come two days after the Chargers scored three points in a wild-card round loss to the Patriots.
So far in these playoffs, the Chargers and Steelers are the only teams that did not score a touchdown. On Tuesday, the Steelers announced head coach Mike Tomlin is stepping down.
The Chargers mustered 207 yards of total offense and averaged 3.5 yards per play against the Patriots. Quarterback Justin Herbert did not complete any passes longer than 20 yards. Herbert was the Chargers’ leading rusher, picking up 57 of the team’s 87 rushing yards on scrambles.
Injuries took their toll on the Chargers’ offense this season. Offensive tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt had their seasons cut short, leaving the offensive line shorthanded. Rookie first-round running back Omarion Hampton, who had been dealing with an ankle inury, had one carry for -1 yard against the Patriots.
The Patriots sacked Herbert six times, the most an team had during the wild-card round. New England’s pass-rush didn’t look as formidable during the regular-season: Their 35 sacks were 26th in the NFL.
The Chargers (21.3 points per game) finished 20th in scoring during the regular-season. They were 11th in yards per game with 333.8.
