The 83rd Golden Globe Awards ceremony was hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, who opened her monologue by saying, “The Golden Globes: without a doubt the most important thing that’s happening in the world right now!” She followed it with “we’ll start the bidding for Warner Bros. at $5.”

Oscar frontrunner One Battle After Another led all nominees with nine, and took home four major awards including best motion picture – musical or comedy.

Teyana Taylor broke down in tears accepting her first-ever Golden Globe for her supporting role in One Battle After Another. She thanked her family, her cast and crew and spoke directly to the “little brown girls watching tonight.”

“Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine,” she said. “We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”

Cooper’s castmates Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty also won awards for their performances in the series.

Timothée Chalamet took home the award for best performance by a male actor in a motion picture – musical or comedy for his role in Marty Supreme.

He thanked his father for teaching him gratitude, saying, “It’s allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past, empty handed, my head held high, grateful to just be here. I’d be lying if I didn’t say those moments didn’t make this moment that much sweeter.”

Kang said “through this film we really wanted to depict female characters the way that we know women, which is really strong and bold, really silly and weird, really hungry for food and sometimes really thirsty.”

She also thanked “everyone who believed that a movie so deeply rooted in Korean culture could resonate with a global audience.”
