How to state non alcoholic reception? |
|
|
Q. Due to
their Christian faith, my daughter and her fiancι want an alcohol free
reception. There is a bar where the reception is being held with
visible liquor. I know we will have guests who wish to purchase an
alcoholic beverage. The reception hall said they would put out a sign
stating "bar is closed". Would it also be appropriate to mention on
the reception card that the reception will be a non-alcoholic buffet
dinner/dance? Any suggestions would be helpful as well as suggestions
on beverages other than the usual soft drinks, tea, coffee.
A. There are one
of two things you can do. First is make sure there is a sign on
the bar and that there will be no one behind the bar. You do not want
to even
give the appearance of being able to get alcohol at all. I know you
also wanted
something to sort of replace those drinks so that it would still have
a party
like atmosphere. If the reception hall is willing you can have a mock
cocktail
bar. You can have the pretty drinks without the alcohol.
Thanks for your question!
