Q. the wedding is in France in
Province and I am planning an outside garden wedding: do wedding
receptions typically require flooring for the seating or can everyone
stand on grass? I find that florros are expensive not within my
budget. We want a theme cocktail drink, is there a resource to look up
recipes? and how do we calculate alcoholic drinks consumption? we have
1 hour open bar and 5 hours reception wine and some mixed drinks. How
do we calculate per person, per drink, per hor and all that?
A. It isn't a problem for guests to
stand on grass unless the lawn is quite moist from a recent watering
or a rain storm. It is more difficult for ladies to stand if they
wear heels. Chairs for ceremony seating are usually placed directly
on the grass, not on a floor.
For the specialty drink, ask your
bartender or caterer for recommendations. They should be able to make
suggestions that will fit the location and fresh fruits available at
the time of the wedding/ The bar catering service that I use
recommends 1 case of wine and 1 keg of beer for every 100 guests.
That equates to about 3 drinks per person. They don't figure by the
hour, but by total consumption. Most consumption will occur during
the first hour and will taper off the last couple of hours.
